Cyclones Tied For Fifth

Jessica Shin is tied for fifth after opening-round 75. The Iowa State women's golf team ends day one of the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship tied for fifth after carding a 309 at the Country Club of Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb. The Cyclones are only eight strokes out of the lead held by Oklahoma State, which posted an opening-round 301.

Cyclones were paced by sophomore Jessica Shin, who is tied for fifth after posting a 3-over par 75 in the first round. A native of Mankato Minn., Shin got off to a great start, going 1-under through her first 14 holes. Karly Pinder (So., Exeter, Ontario) and Christi Athas (Jr., Eldora, Iowa) are currently tied for 16th after recording 77s on the first day. Athas recovered from a shaky start where she was 3-over after four holes. Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll was the only competitor under par with a first-round 69, three strokes ahead of the field.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow and Wednesday.
