Carper Talks Spring Game

Adam Carper has been in the right place at the right time more than once in his short Iowa State career. He caused two turnovers in Saturday's Spring Game and he's now looking forward to being a three year starter at Iowa State. Find out what the linebacker had to say on Saturday after his big game.

Do you think that you are going to be a three year starter?

Carper: I hope so. I did some good things out there but there are a lot of things that I need to work on. I'll go back and look at the tape and get ready for next year.

Can you talk a little bit about your interception today?

Carper: Coach Skladany really talked about forcing the ball and turning the ball over. We just go out there and we try to create things. Today we were in the right place at the right time. You saw that today.

How far has this defense come this spring?

Carper: I think we've only had three starters come back so we had to really develop as one this spring. We've had a lot of bad things go our way and a lot of bad practices but Coach Skladany says to take days one at a time.

How much farther along do you think you are compared to last fall?

Carper: I think we still have a ways to go. You saw out there, pass protections and coverages were a little off. We have a lot of things to work on.

Can you talk about the chemistry of the linebackers a little bit?

Carper: We pride ourselves in motivating the team. We are the ones that go out there and get everyone ready. We have a good bond and we are all young. We don't have much experience but I think that we are ready to go to the next level.

Is there more pressure on you guys with the young defensive line in front of you?

Carper : We really don't have that young of a defensive line. Moorehead and Curvey are in there showing leadership up front. We just need to work through things and work hard this summer.
