Iowa State lost to Nebraska 7-0 last Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. Cyclone sophomore Chrissy Derouin lost a three-set match to Vanessa Huete in the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. ISU seniors Elizabeth Chermel and Charlotte Ljungkrantz played a tiebreaker loss in each of their matches. Chermel lost 7-6 (5), 6-3 to Pamela Castillejos in the No. 4 position, while Ljungkrantz fell in the No. 6 slot to Ewelina Skaza, 6-4, 7-6 (2).
ISU is led by junior Danielle Uscinski and sophomore Caitlin Loprinzi. Uscinski holds a 5-8 spring dual record, while Loprinzi posts a 3-4 mark. Uscinski partners with sophomore Chrissy Derouin in the No. 3 slot. The duo hold a team-best 8-7 spring record and are 4-5 in Big 12 action.
Nebraska posted a 1-1 mark last weekend at home. The Huskers lost to Kansas State on Sunday (4-3) after defeating Iowa State. Nebraska is led by four seniors: Pamela Castillejos, Jennifer Cremieux, Milena Schulz-Gartner and Ewelina Skaza.
The winner of Thursday's match between Iowa State and Nebraska will advance to face fourth-seeded Texas Tech at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
