Iowa State has already receive the verbal commitment of a top quarterback out of the state of Nebraska in Phillip Bates, but the Cyclones still have their hearts set on a prospect with big-time offers out of Beaumont, Tex. Find out more here in this CN recruiting update.

Joe Chaisson Jr. is a 6'2, 161 pound quarterback out of West Brook High School. Last season, he was the District 22-5A MVP, when he passed for 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also ran for 774 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Chaisson has received an offer from Iowa State and he's ready to learn more about the program.

"Right now I really don't know that much about them. My plans this summer are to get in touch with them more often and get to know a little bit more about them," said Chaisson. "They write me a lot of letters. I receive a lot of letters from Iowa State."

Chaisson said that while Iowa State isn't one of his top three choices, they're definitely in his top five. He said that Tennessee, LSU and Oklahoma are his top choices while Iowa State and Texas A&M are both in the mix as well. Chaisson has received offers from all of those schools except Oklahoma. Chaisson also has offers from Missouri, Indiana and Baylor.

Chaisson said that the biggest factor for him while picking a school, is the school's interest in him.

"I'm probably going to see what kind of interest they have in me. I want to see what they can offer me," said Chaisson. "I think the biggest thing that I can bring to a team is the fact that I can get out of trouble when everything is going wrong. I have the ability to make plays."

Chaisson still hasn't decided if he's going to attend the ISU camp this summer, but he did say that he would make the effort.

CN will keep you updated on the recruitment of Chaisson.
