Iowa Post Game: Stevie Hicks

On Saturday, Iowa State new that running the football would be a key to victory over the stingy Iowa defense. The Cyclones rushed for an impressive 179 yards, but it wasn't enough as the Clones suffered a 27-17 loss to the Hawkeyes. Stevie Hicks ran for 75 of those yards and CN caught up with Hicks after the game. Here's what he had to say in this CN Q&A.

Q: Did you feel like you guys could be as successful as you were running the ball, especially up the middle like you did?

A: We did feel like we could run the ball on these guys but like we said, we ran good in the first half and we would have in the second, but we just didn't finish.

Q: Is that a product of falling behind a little bit?

A: It's always good to run the ball but this year, the clock is always moving so we're still getting the feel of that and getting used to that. We just have to keep going.

Q: Were you surprised on fourth down when you guys went for it there?

A: No, not at all. We needed that, like I said it's a continuous clock now so we've got to keep it up.

Q: Did you players want to go for it on that play?

A: Yeah, we did want to go for it. We didn't convert it but we definitely wanted to go for it with that clock moving and only like four minutes left. We had our backs against the wall; we had to go for that.
