CN Pick Five - Week Four

Every week CN's staff will pick the outcomes of five meaninful games in the world of college football. A running tab will be kept throughout the season and plan on guests pickers as well along the way. Check out this weeks picks right here at CN.

Steve Deace – CN Founder (12-3 on the season)

Iowa State @ Texas - This shouldn't be the blowout that many people are predicting.  There are several ISU players who would start at Texas.  If the Longhorns blow ISU out then Cyclone Nation should be very disappointed.  That said I expect Texas to pull away in the second half and win 38-17.

Penn State @ Ohio State - This will be a blowout.  I've been saying since the start of the year that Penn State is one of the most overrated teams in the country.  Buckeyes roll in a revenge game, 28-10.

Arizona State @ Cal - I think the Bears are still a lot better than they showed at Tennessee and win this game, 35-24.

Notre Dame @ Michigan State - The Spartans have won seven of nine in this series, but both of those Irish wins were actually in East Lansing.

Notre Dame recovers and escapes on the road, 30-21.

Louisville @ Kansas State - Upset alert in Manhattan.  The Cardinals go on the road after a big emotional win, and do so without their starting quarterback and tailback.  I'm calling for the outright K-State upset, 20-17.

Chris Williams – CN Publisher (12-3 on the season)

Iowa State @ Texas – I hate doing this but I have a feeling that this one will get ugly in the 2nd half. Until Iowa State's offense proves to me that they can efficiently put points on the scoreboard, I can't trust them. I think this will be a decent game in the 1st half but Texas really rolls in the 2nd half and exploits Iowa State's secondary. If, however, the Iowa State offense that we know we have comes out for the first time this week, folks could be celebrating in Ames Saturday night. In the end, I just don't see it happening. Texas 38 Iowa State 17

Penn State @ Ohio State – I like Ohio State to absolutely roll in this one. Ohio State 34 Penn State 10.

Arizona State @ Cal – Honestly, I could care a less. Unfortunately this is one of the top games of this crappy weekend for football. I'll take Cal by 10. Cal 24 ASU 14

Notre Dame @ Michigan StateThis will be a trendy upset pick this week but I refuse to fall into the trop. Notre Dame 27 Michigan State 17

Louisville @ Kansas State – Kansas State is the worst 3-0 football team in the history of the sport. Louisville 34 KSU 10

Luke Vander Sanden – CN Ambassador/Former ISU Team Captain (12-3 on the season)

Iowa State @ Texas - ISU 21, Texas 17…I have to go with my team!  I choose them in hopes that they will come out swinging in Austin.

Penn State @ Ohio State -  Ohio State wins a big thriller in Columbus.  Look for Ohio State to prove why they are one of the best teams in college football.  Ohio St. 35 Penn St 14

Arizona State @ Cal - ASU 28 Cal 7… I am picking ASU in this one.  I have liked the looks of their team since the start of the season, and have confidence in them to keep the ship sailing!

Notre Dame @ Michigan State - N. Dame 24 MSU 10… ND comes off a tough, tough loss to Michigan.  It's tough being MSU because ND uses this game to prove they are still a top 10 team in the country.

Louisville @ Kansas State - Louisville 35 K-State 10… K-State hasn't played anyone, and their weaknesses become exploited against Louisville.  Look for Louisville to bring the hammer to Ron Prince's untested squad.

Jack Whitver – CN Ambassador/Former ISU Team Captain (11-4 on the season)

Iowa State @ Texas - Closer than most expect, but Texas comes up on top....34-24.

Penn State @ Ohio State - Ohio State makes another statement as the team to beat.....38-14

Arizona State @ Cal - Cal gets big win at home....21-10

Notre Dame @ Michigan State - Notre Dame gets revenge for the Spartans flag sticking ceremony last year....31-17

Louisville @ Kansas State - Louisville hands KSU their first loss....Bad. 35-14

Brent Blum – CN Columnist (12-3 on the season)

Iowa State @ Texas - Texas. Iowa State needs a game or two to regain its groove and a road Big 12 game at UT is not a great way to "get its groove on." Too much speed and size to counter. But, the good guys will make it a four quarter game. Then again…all games are four quarters.  Texas 38 Iowa State 21.

Penn State @ Ohio State-Ohio State. After Iowa and Ohio State win Saturday, next week could set a record for most arrests ever in Iowa City. I'm just warning the citizens of Johnson County to take cover immediately. Ohio State 37 Penn State 17

Arizona State @ Cal- Cal. ASU's Dirk Koetter has never won a Pac-10 game in the state of California. The unfortunate thing is almost half the conference resides in the state. Not good. Cal 28 ASU 23

Notre Dame @ Michigan State - Notre Dame. John L. Smith wins just enough to make the inevitable downfall seem even more painful. I feel sorry for the Spartan Nation. Notre Dame 31 Michigan State 24

Louisville @ Kansas State - Louisville. They don't have Brohm or Bush, but they have a pulse and that's prescient enough to pummel Prince's Purple Populace. I need some help. Louisville 31 K-State 17

1st- Everybody except Whitver @ 12-3

5th – Whitver @ 11-4
