Today Iowa State coach Greg McDermott picked up his third commitment in the class of 2007 when Lucca Staiger, a 6'6 shooter out of Decatur Christian School in Illinois committed to Iowa State today.

Staiger has been recruited by McDermott for years, as he was a target of McDermott's when he coached at Northern Iowa. Staiger picked Iowa State over offers from Washington State, Iowa, and possibly Illinois who was also showing heavy interest.

Staiger is originally from Germany where he played at the Prspring School. His mentor is former NBA great Detlef Schrempf. Like Schrempf, Staigger can play the two or the three effectively and is an out

Staiger averaged 24.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 6.2 APG last season.

He has been a member of the German National Team for the past four seasons and was one of 49 players asked to attend the NBA Basketball Without Boarders Camp which features the best of the best in international players. He was also the MVP of the Dirk Nowitzki basketball camp at the age of 15.

Staiger is coached at Decatur Christian by Alan Huss, who formerly played at Creighton and coached at the Iowa State Elite camp last spring.
