Buckley: Tough Decision Ahead

Dominique Buckley is one of the best 2008 guards in the entire state of Michigan, and it's looking like Iowa State is in his top two. With a tough decision looming, get the scoop from Buckley's father on what he's thinking about the Cyclones.

One of the best 2008 point guards in the state of Michigan visited Iowa State two weekends ago, that being Dominique Buckley. According to Buckley's father, the visit went well, and his decision is that much harder after seeing Ames.

"We had a really good time. We were really impressed with the coaching staff and basically with everything. Iowa State was already number one or two on his list along with Xavier, but he was really impressed and now his decision is really tough," Buckley said.

Even though the Romulus, Michigan point guard is a 2008 recruit, his father Sterling said that the family is ready to get a decision made.

"We want to get it done because there are so many schools starting to come after him now. It's starting to become a distraction," Buckley said.

That's a testament to the type of player that Buckley is, and that shows why Iowa State is so high on the guard. Other schools that are starting to show interest in Buckley include Illinois, Drake, Penn State, Miami and Florida State.

"He's really narrowed it down to like three schools," Buckley said. Those being Iowa State, Xavier and Dayton.

Though Dayton is listed, it's likely that the decision will come down to Iowa State and Xavier.

"Those are the hardest two to decide because he really liked Xavier's campus with it being smaller; he kind of connected with Coach [Sean] Miller too," Buckley said.

Sean Miller isn't the only coach that Buckley is hitting it off with. Iowa State's assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger has made quite the impression on not only Buckley, but his parents as well.

"He's (T.J.) always texting him to see how he's doing and how school is going. He's done a really good job recruiting him and my wife and I feel more comfortable knowing that he's dealing with those type of people," Buckley said.

Two things are for sure with Iowa State's recruitment of Buckley. The first is that this decision will not be an easy one for Buckley to make.

"He's really struggling with his decision now. It's what to do, what to do, what to do," Buckley said.

The other, is that Iowa State is in love with Buckley and he is easily a top priority in the class of 2008.
