CN Cyclone Hockey Report: Get the Red Out!

The biggest weekend of the 2006-2007 season up to this point is upon us. Cyclone Hockey will be taking on conference rival Ohio University at Ames/ISU Ice Arena on Saturday and Sunday. It's series like these that make college hockey great. The Cyclones have but one bigger rival than Ohio and that is the Fighting Illini of Illinois.

Don't let that fool you though. The Clones and Bobcats just don't like each other. Why should they? Every single year they battle for the Central States Collegiate Hockey League Conference Title, every year they battle each other in the national rankings and every year they compete for a national title. This is what college hockey is all about.

Last season, the previously undefeated Cyclones marched into Ohio's revered Bird Arena and were sent home with two losses. You'd be foolish to think any of the veterans who were part of that series have forgotten. This is the first time they have a shot at revenge since that defeat in early October of 2005. It's been a long wait, but the Cyclones are ready.

While they are ready for the competition that will take place on the ice, the team is hoping to get some serious home ice advantage. With this being arguably one of the biggest home series of the year, Cyclone Hockey is challenging their fans to come to the rink wearing red. We want to make Ames/ISU Ice Arena a Red Sea. Those who do wear red will receive one dollar off admission on Saturday night, December 2nd, at 7:30 PM.

The best priced ticket in town just got cheaper. There is no excuse to miss out on one of the best rivalries in the ACHA. Ohio was last year's CSCHL regular season champion and if they hope to defend their title, they'll need a sweep. The boys on the ice and the folks in the stands aren't going to let that happen. Not in our house. If you want to be a part of one of the greatest atmospheres in college sports you have to see this game.

Cyclone Nation, it's time to get out there and support one of the top college hockey teams in the nation. Those of you that remember watching games in the old rink will want to relive some of those Cyclone Hockey glory days in what promises to be a thrilling game between two national powerhouses.

There is no doubt about it. This team is for real. Cyclone Hockey is bringing that championship mentality to the ice against another proven winner. I know a lot of you have been talking about checking out a game; well this Saturday night's contest is the one you absolutely must see. So come out to the game, support your Cyclones and show your Cyclone Hockey pride by wearing red to the game on Saturday night. As Coach Murdoch always says, "Get there early, because they'll be hangin' from the rafters for this one."

-The Cyclones spent Thanksgiving Break on the road, splitting their series with Eastern Michigan and sweeping North Dakota State for the second time this season.

-Last Week's Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week was Sophomore Bill Adolph of St. Paul, MN. Bill scored 3 goals and had one assist in last weekend's series against the Bison of NDSU.

-Jayson Peterson has made his way to #5 on the national goal scorers leader board. To go along with his 19 goals, the junior from Bemidji, MN also has 10 assists for 29 points, best on the team.

Remember to come on out to Ames/ISU Ice Arena on Saturday night wearing red and receive $1 off of admission at the door. And if you can't make it to the game you can listen to all of the Cyclone Hockey action on the web at
