Greener Pastures in Ames

Anthony Green has wanted to be a Cyclone for several months now. He just needed to make sure the Cyclones still wanted him.

Despite the coaching change, Cyclone recruit Anthony Green is still truly excited about coming to Iowa State.

Green made an official visit to Ames along with numerous other recruits this past weekend.  The group attended the ISU vs. Kansas basketball game, met with new Coach Gene Chizik and members of the coaching staff, and also just hung out with fellow recruits and got to know each other.

"I was very impressed with Coach Chizik and his staff and the direction they are taking the football program," said Green, who said he got the impression from the coaching staff he could vie for playing time right away.

Even though Green made the visit without the aid of family he said he felt comfortable at Iowa State amongst the students and fans and feels that fitting in at ISU will go smoothly with one possibly exception.

"The snow will take some getting used to," said Green, who said ISU was his preferred choice all along and the only doubt he ever had about coming to Ames was during the coaching staff when he went "a while" before hearing something from ISU.

As a senior Green led his high school (Fort Bend Marshall) to the state playoffs where they were beaten in the second round to end their season at 8-4.

The 6-0, 220-pound linebacker out of Missouri City, Texas, said after this weekend's official visit, he went home knowing one thing for sure; he wants to be a Cyclone.
