Brown Still Wants to be a Cyclone

He's been committed to ISU for over six months, but now Fabian Brown is coming to Ames to clarify where things stand between he and the new coaching staff.

Des Moines Roosevelt standout Fabian Brown has confirmed he will make an official visit to Ames this weekend.

"I'll at least be meeting with new defensive coordinator Wayne Bolt (about where things stand)," said Brown, who added he wasn't sure who else he would talk to on his visit.

Brown says even though he will be making his first official visit he sees himself potentially fitting in very well at Ames. His high school career ended when the Roughriders failed to make the state playoffs, and since then he's been watching and waiting for the coaching change to shakeout at Iowa State.  He originally committed to Dan McCarney last summer but until recently he wasn't sure where he stood with Gene Chizik and the new staff.

"I envision myself playing outside linbacker or the rush end position as a Cyclone," Brown said.  "l'll do whatever the team needs me to do to help it win."
At 6 feet 3 inches and 225 pounds, it's easy to see why Brown feels OLB and RE are his best positions. Brown's other physical attributes include a 275-pound bench press and a 500-pound squat to go along with a reported time of 4.7 speed in the 40-yard dash.
Brown who will be accompanied by his mother on the trip said he is undecided about what studies he will pursue in college. He went on to say that from the beginning the only schools he considered were Iowa State and Northern Iowa.

"I'm 80% sure I'll be a Cyclone," Brown said.
