Imari Sawyer's Father Makes Statement to CN

Cyclone Nation was able to contact Imari Sawyer's father, Terry, on Thursday morning regarding the status of his son's transfer.

He made this statement: "Imari wants to play for Coach Larry Eustachy and is taking all of the necessary steps to do so."

Terry Sawyer declined any further comment and refused to answer any questions on whether his son would end up at a junior college for one year or when he would be enrolling for the fall semester.

Yesterday, CN learned that Sawyer could have some more academic hurdles to clear before enrolling at ISU and may need to spend at least one year at a junior college.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder was believed to be looking at Iowa State and Seton Hall, among other programs. As a sophomore at DePaul last season he played in 17 games and averaged 8.9 points, 5.4 assists and three rebounds. Sawyer posted a season-high 20 points at East Carolina just prior to being suspended from the team for academic reasons.
