Bret Meyer update

David Garvin of Heartland Recruiting and TheInsiders gives Cyclone Nation an update on Atlantic, Iowa, quarterback Bret Meyer. Meyer is one of nine players that have committed to the Cyclones for 2003.

Bret wasn't at home when HR called on Monday night, but his dad, Dan Meyer, was. We asked him about the first game.

"We played Adel-DeSoto-Minburn the first game," Mr. Meyer said. "It was a non-conference game and we did OK. We won 42-0. Bret ran for three touchdowns and also threw for a 43-yard touchdown."

What about this week?

"We play Clarinda, a conference game," he replied. "It should be a tough contest."

Any second thoughts for Bret concerning his early commitment to Iowa State?

"Oh no," Mr. Meyer continued. "I'm certain Bret would have received more offers if he had waited, but we were really impressed with the facilities and staff at Iowa State. And it's close to home, which makes it nice."
