Bader Earns Exempt Status for '03 Tour
PORTLAND, Ore.--Former Iowa State golfer Beth Bader fired a final round 69 for a three-day 5-under 211 tally to finish tied for 18th at the Safeway Classic in Portland, Ore., Sunday afternoon. Her 18th-place finish was good enough to earn $10,540 for the tournament, which propelled her from 96th place to No. 90 on the 2002 LPGA Tour money list with $72,335 season earnings. Her late season push earns her a full exempt status for next season's tour, as the LPGA Tour gives full exemption status the following season to the top 90 money winners on the tour. Bader, a native of Eldridge, Iowa, just ended her second season as a full exempt competitor on the tour. She earned her pass on the tour the last two seasons by way of top-10 finishes in the LPGA Qualifying school. Bader was a two-time all-Big Eight performer and earned the 1996 Female Athlete of the Year Award while at Iowa State.
