Sooners Down ISU Volleyball, 3-0

AUSTIN, Texas - The Iowa State volleyball team fell in three sets at Oklahoma on Wednesday night at the OU Field House. Offensively, the Cyclones were paced by Mandi Harms and Renae Pruess, who tallied 10 and six kills, respectively. With the loss, Iowa State falls to 9-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12. Megan O'Connell's 12-kill, six dig performance on the night helped the Sooners improve to 3-6 overall and to 1-0 in league play. The loss snapped a six-match winning streak for the Cyclones.

Oklahoma tallied 41 kills to ISU's 30 and outdug the Cyclones 49-34.

Oklahoma's offense controlled the match, finishing the night hitting .283 from the floor. The Sooners committed just 16 hitting errors on 41 attacks, while registering 41 kills. The Cyclones were held to a .000 clip from the floor, while collecting 30 kills.

Sophomore Brittany Dalager had two kills and 10 digs, while senior Sara Stribe had 21 assists. Sophomore Christine Smeele had six kills and four digs for the Cyclones.

Iowa State played game one tough, drilling 13 kills to Oklahoma's 14, but the Sooners claimed a 30-24 win. In game two, ISU struggled and fell behind early. OU pounded 16 kills and had just three errors and won, 30-18. In game three, Oklahoma held the Cyclones to -.143 hitting and won, 30-17.

ISU will play host to Texas Tech on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Hilton Coliseum. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
