Jon Banks Q&A

If you missed the audio check out the transcript of this interview.

Q:  Have you had a chance to look over tape from UNI?  What do you think of their offense?

Banks:  We've looked a little.  They do a lot of different things.  We've been studying film for a couple days and breaking it down just trying to get prepared.

Q:  What have you seen from the tape?

Banks:  They're good at what they do…both run and pass.  They balance it out.  We're trying to get our steps down and our gaps down so we'll be ready to go.

Q:  You have another mobile quarterback this week.  What are the challenges that Sanders presents to your defense?

Banks:  He scares me a little bit, but not as much as the quarterback from Kent State.  We're going to keep watching the film and going from there.  We're trying to learn each day.

Q:  A guy like Sanders has been around for a while and is pretty confident.  Is there anything that you guys need to try to do to get him out of rhythm and try to get him off his feet?

Banks:  We're just going to go out there and play ball.  It will take care of itself from there.

Q:  Looking back on last year's game versus UNI, what do you think about pulling one out late?

Banks:  Yeah, a lot of people talk about that.  This year we're coming out ready and on top of everything that we have to do, ball out from start to finish…no holding back at all.

Q:  Do you remember your personal feelings after that game?  They say there are no moral victories, but in some ways people looked at that as a moral lost.

Banks:  I knew before the field goal that it was a makeable field goal, but then he missed it and we won, but we wanted to play better than we did.  We didn't play up to our potential.

Q:  There are a lot of teams that kind of opened up their eyes after watching Appalachian State win.  I know you guys aren't going to take UNI lightly, but did that kind of add more pressure to it?

Banks:  It could, but we aren't worried about that.  We're just going to go out there and play to the best of our ability week in and week out no matter who the opponent is.

Q:  Coach Chizik stressed that the team just had to step it up on defense.  Talk about what has to be done this week to avoid last week's outcome.

Banks:  Just playing with a fast pace at all times.  Making tackles and taking care of our business.
