McCarney gets 12th FB commitment for '03

Iowa State has added yet another offensive lineman to an already impressive class that includes the likes of Iowans Aaron Brant, Brandon Cook, John Tjaden and Tom Schmeling.

Bastian Schober of Granbury, Texas, committed to the Cyclones last night after talking with ISU head coach Dan McCarney via phone.

Schober is a 6-foot-2, 290-pounder that is in his first year of varsity ball. He's a foreign exchange student from Nuremberg, Germany, and was forced to play JV last season by Texas transfer rules.

He was also being recruited by Texas Christian, Notre Dame and Nebraska, but chose the Cyclones after an official visit to Ames last weekend. Schober has great speed for a big man (4.8 40 time) and could also be a defensive lineman in the future.

Cyclone Nation will have more on this story later today.
