James Battle Update

David Garvin of Heartland Recruiting and TheInsiders gives Cyclone Nation an update on Denton (Texas) Ryan quarterback James Battle, who has been offered a scholarship from Iowa State and several other Division I programs.

Battle had just finished dinner when HR cuaught up with him Wednesday night. We talked about last week's game and the weather.

"We didn't get started until about 9:15," James said. "It was really bad. I know I hit about 12-of-15 or something like that. I don't know how many yards (203) and the two touchdowns to Phillip (Jones). I didn't play much in the second half (a 48-0 win over Justin Northwest)."

At this point, Battle and his teammates are more interested in a second consecutive Division I State 4-A title than the recruiting process.

"TCU, SMU, Missouri, Tennessee, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor continue to call, but I haven't scheduled anything yet," Battle continued. "This week we play Frisco. They have a pretty good offense, but we get to play them at our house, which is always good."

For the season, Battle has completed 89-of-143 passes for 1,333 yards with 15 touchdowns against only five interceptions, ranking him 6th overall in the DFW Metroplex 4-A leaders in passing yardage.
