The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder, who originally signed a letter of intent and redshirted at Oklahoma during the 2001 season before transferring to Iowa Central, is the 13th player to commit to the Cyclones for the 2003 signing class.
"Since it's my second time going through, I kind of know what I really want and what's good for me," Toomey told Cyclone Nation in a story prior to his commitment. "I know what to look for and what not to look for. I love Coach McCarney and his staff. It's close to home for me. It's a really good program now. I don't know why anybody would not want to go there.
"I get along with all of the guys on the team, which is a big thing. The academics are good there and it's a good environment. No trouble is really going on right now. I'm happy there and knew I was happy there since I visited as a junior."
Toomey attended Valley High School in West Des Moines, the same program that current Cyclones Casey Shelton, Joe Woodley, Collin Menard and Brian Lutter. His brother Zac will transfer to ISU in January and walk on to the football team.
Check back later tonight more on this story.
