Iowa State Looking at Florida Linebacker

Largo (Florida) High School linebacker Mike Marry and incoming Cyclone Leonard Johnson are not just friends. "We talk pretty much every day. We've been real close since I was eight years old."

If it was up to Johnson, he would love for the friendship to continue in Ames, Iowa. "He definitely wants me to come for a visit," said Marry. "He's told me that it's a great environment and that I would really like all the coaches."

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker has a very busy summer ahead and expects to attend a few team camps. "I'm not sure which camps I'll attend yet. I'd like to visit Iowa State but I've got to find a way to get up there."

Marry is also looking to continue to improve his game. "I'm working on getting faster and I hope to gain between 10 and 15 pounds this summer."

The middle linebacker currently lists Iowa State as one of his 18 scholarships and says they are definitely a school he is looking at. "I don't have any leaders yet but I like that their head coach (Gene Chizik) is a defensive guy. It makes it better and Leonard (Johnson) says that the program is going to be a lot better than they have been in the past."

Along with trying to sort out which college to attend in the future, Marry is also trying to get prepared for a big senior season at Largo High School. "We should be as good, if not better than last season. I'm captain of the defense and we have most guys back and got a few transfers so we should be real good."
