Ian currently has scholarship offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Tulsa, and Colorado State but he isn't ready to name a leader yet. "I really like the coaches at Illinois and Iowa State but it's still too early in the process," said Knight. "I'm still feeling everyone out to see who I feel comfortable with."
"Part of the reason that I have Illinois and Iowa State high up is because they had assistant coaches that came all the way out to Kansas to see me and that really meant a lot," said Knight. "The coaches at Iowa State really liked my tape and they were the second school to offer me. I talk to Coach (Shawn) Raney about once a week. Right now they see me playing at strong side defensive end."
The 6-foot-2, 244-pound defensive end feels the summer can be used to improve certain parts of his game. "I'm working on getting faster," he said. "I need to improve my conditioning and my ability to read plays."
His other summer plans include numerous camps. "I likely will be attending team or one day camps at Tulsa, Missouri, Kansas, and Kansas State," said Knight. "I will then be making my official visits in the fall. Iowa State and the other schools that have offered will be places I want to visit."
He then added that these visits will be extremely important. "I will be making my decision in the fall because I plan on graduating in December," he said. "That way I can start practicing with the school that I choose in the spring."
