Defensive End Names Iowa State His Leader

St.Agnes (MN) High School defensive end Leevon Perry will be skipping summer football camps because he has an important goal. "I'm taking summer classes and then everything should be fine. I will then get my scholarship offer from Iowa State and then I will commit."

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Perry says he is no longer looking at any other schools. "I was also looking at Minnesota but I am no longer talking with them. The only school I am interested in is Iowa State."

He credits the Iowa State staff's hard work for why he is set on the Cyclones. "They starting sending me a lot of letters last year and then I went to their junior day a while back and I really liked it a lot," he said. "The coaching staff was real good to me and the campus was real nice. It was pretty much then that I realized that I wanted to go to Iowa State."

Leevon still has some school issues to deal with but he is not too concerned. "Once I get my summer classes done everything will be fine. I will also be taking the ACT for the first time on June 14th."

He pointed out that everything came about thanks to a visit from an Iowa State assistant coach. "Coach Koonz came to see me and went over what I need to do to get a full ride and so that's the school I want to go to and so I just need to take care of my class work."

As Perry looks to next year, he wants to build off his success as a junior. "As a sophomore I had only 3 sacks but last year I improved to 7 sacks so next year I want to get even more," he said. "I ran track this past year so I expect to be a lot faster."
