Randolph (WI) High School forward Kyle Kelm is not ready to make any final decisions but one school that he is clearly interested in is Iowa State. "I don't have any clear leaders but if I had a top five, Iowa State would definitely be in it, "said Kelm. "I took a visit there last fall to a football game and really liked it."
The 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward is considered to be one of the better shooting big men in the Midwest and the Cyclones have clearly taken notice. "They told me that they thought I was a good shooter and a guy who could also take it to the basket and that that's what they needed," said Kelm. "When I went on the visit I really got to see the campus and I thought it was very nice. The coaches really welcomed me throughout the whole time I was there."
He currently lists scholarship offers from UNI, Bradley, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Iowa State, and most recently Marquette. "Location won't be an issue for me at all but at the moment, I'm not really close to making a decision."
He said that he has mostly stayed in touch with Iowa State assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger. "I'm really comfortable with him and we joke around a lot. He's come to two of my open gyms and Coach McDermott came to one also."
While Kelm's recruitment continues to take off, he's just looking forward to the rest of the summer. "I play for the Wisconsin Swing AAU Team and we have a really busy July," he said. "We will be playing in tournaments in Indiana, Kentucky, and Las Vegas."
