Two Favorites at the Moment for Campbell

Jersey Village (TX) High School safety Steven Campbell just picked up another scholarship offer this week but two schools are clearly in the lead at the moment.

"I just got offered by Kansas which was good but Iowa State and Texas A&M are definitely my two leaders at this time although I'm still looking at other schools," said Campbell. "I just went on an unofficial visit to A&M the other day and I'm hoping to make a visit to Iowa State at some point."

One thing that would not change much for Campbell if he selected the Cyclones would be the defensived system. "We play essentially the same defense that Iowa State does because two of my high school coaches played for Coach Chizik when he was coaching at Stephen F. Austin," said Campbell. "I've only talked to him (Chizik) once but when I did he told me that I was their top priority at safety and that I really fit their system."

Steven also likes how Coach Chizik has developed past defensive players. "All the players he has coached in the past at Auburn and Texas have done real well," he said. "He helped put a lot of them in the league."

The 6-foot, 185-pound Campbell also stays in touch with Iowa State assistant coach Jay Rodgers. "We talk about every two weeks and he also came down to my spring game."

Campbell is not sure yet when he will make his final decision. "My family and coaches feel I should probably make it by the end of the summer but I might wait until the fall."
