Will Cyclones Take Chance On Casey?

Crosby (TX) High School star Chance Casey left Puerto Rico Sunday morning after he had competed on a U.S.A. Junior track team.

Due to his exceptional speed, most teams are recruiting him as a wide receiver rather than a running back, the position where he became District 21-4A Offensive Player of the Year last year. "I talk to (Iowa State) Assistant Coach Raney and he said they are recruiting me as a slot receiver," said Casey. "It's fine with me because honestly I don't really care which position they put me at. However, my coaches are going to line me up at wide receiver more this year"

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Casey has scholarship offers from Baylor, Colorado State, Houston, and Iowa State. He said he is willing to leave the state of Texas but location could still be an issue. "It's a small factor for me," he said. "Ultimately it won't be the deciding factor because I could easily see myself playing at Iowa State or Colorado State."

Chance said he still is not sure when he will take his official visits but he does know one thing for sure about his final choice. "Along with playing football, I will also be looking to run track," said Casey. "Iowa State has already offered me for both so that is good to know."
