Wes is using the summer to continue to improve as a player. "I'm just trying to improve all aspects but I would say the biggest thing for me is to get bigger and stronger," he said. "It's especially important to help me defensively at this level so I'll be in the weight room a lot."
As far as his role for next season, he feels he can help at either guard. "I'm just here for whatever Coach Mac (McDermott) needs me to do," said Eikmeier. "I think coach will want me helping out at the off guard mainly as a shooter but I also think he's comfortable with me running the one at times."
With Wes needing to work on his strength, there has been some talk about him redshirting next season. "I've talked to Coach McDermott about it but I'm not really thinking about it right now," he said. "We'll see what happens and then make a decision on it in November."
Either way, Eikmeier believes the future is bright for the Cyclones. "I think we have a lot of pieces of the puzzle," he said. "I think next year we will really open some eyes."
