Cyclones High on Beshears

Ryan (TX) High School wide receiver D.J. Beshears may have only one scholarship offer but according to his coach, the school that lands him will be getting a steal.

"He came on the scene late last summer because he had moved here from northern California but he had a great year," said Ryan High School Head Coach Joey Florence. "He's not a burner but he has great football speed and when it's all said and done he will have multiple offers."

D.J. received his only offer in the mail from Iowa State and he is very excited about it. "Getting an offer from Iowa State is real good," said Beshears. "They play in a conference with a lot of great schools to play against."

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound receiver feels he will add a lot to the school that he eventually chooses. "I feel I can do it all because I play with a lot of heart," he said. "I can run, catch, and I just have a lot of passion for the game. I just want to keep working on my route running in regards to making my cuts sharper."

According to his coach, Beshears compares to a Wes Welker type player. "He's going to be a real good player. He may only be 5-9 but he's a slot receiver who clearly can play in the Big 12," said Florence. "He practices harder than anyone I have ever coached and he's also a good student."

According to Florence it was Iowa State assistant coach Scott Fountain that first took notice of Beshears during the spring. "He came through a couple times this summer and he did a good job of noticing that D.J. was a very good football player who could help their team."

D.J. is not sure when he will choose to make his final choice. "I might take a couple of visits and make a decision during the season," he said. "Otherwise I'll just wait until after the season."
