Reese Still Keeping His Options Open

Will Brad Reese reverse his course and head to Iowa State this year?

"I've been wavering a little bit," he said. "Right now I think it's 90% that I will head back to Gulf Coast. I think I owe it to my coach because he has done a lot for me."

Reese is a 6-6 wing who was the leading scorer at Gulf Coast Community College and was named Panhandle Conference Freshman of the Year this past season. He took a visit to Ames last spring and really enjoyed himself but decided to return to Gulf Coast for one more year.

What he wasn't expecting was for one of Iowa State's best players, Wesley Johnson, to abruptly transfer during the late spring. "I really started to think about it when Wesley Johnson transferred," said Reese. "I realized I could come in and probably start right away at Iowa State."

After Reese attended and played very well at the Jerry Mullins JC Elite Camp last week, he received even more scholarship offers. "I feel its likely that I will return to Gulf Coast but if I don't I have a top three and they would be Iowa State, Kentucky, and UAB."

He has been in contact over the past few weeks with the Cyclone staff and knows how they feel. "I still like Iowa State a lot," he said. "I have a good relationship with Coach McDermott and T.J. (Otzelberger). I know they want me at Iowa State."
