Alex Woodley Update

David Garvin of Heartland Recruiting and TheInsiders gives Cyclone Nation an update on Mesquite (Texas) Skeeter two-way player Alex Woodley, who is being recruited heavily by Iowa State.

"Alex is working on getting his schools down to five, Woodley's dad, Alex Sr., told HR on Wednesday night. "Matter of fact, Notre Dame just called."

HR asked Mr. Woodley about positions.

"It's real interesting how they view Alex position-wise," he said. "Iowa State, Missouri and Texas A&M want him as a running back. Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Indiana and Texas Tech are recruiting him as a corner. Kansas is recruiting him for either side. I know it all depends on schemes, but I really feel Alex will wind up at corner. He will be making an official visit to Iowa State on January 10th."

"Alex played mainly on offense as a junior, but with the team being so young this year, he played much more defense," Mr. Woodley continued. "It wasn't long before teams quit throwing to his side or even kicking the ball to him in the return game. So he didn't have the numbers he might have had otherwise."

Even without those numbers, Woodley remains a valuable commodity.
