Cyclones The Leader For Lenz

Dubuque Hempstead (IA) High School's Josh Lenz was definitely excited when he received his first offer from Iowa State a few weeks back.

"It was an awsome feeling and a big weight off my shoulders," he said. "Growing up I was a Hawkeye fan but towards the end of last year I started paying more attention to Iowa State."

The 6-foot, 180-pound athlete feels that his relationship with the Cyclone coaches has been the key so far. "Iowa State is my leader and it's really because of how much I like the coaches," he said. "They have been recruiting me the hardest and when I went up for a one-day camp in June things went really well."

Josh says that he communicates with the Cyclone staff on a consistent basis. "I talk to Coach Petersen about once or twice a week," said Lenz. "I've also talked with Coach Chizik and things went real well when I talked with him."

Lenz mostly plays running back and defensive back for his high school team but that is not where he would likely end up playing at Iowa State. "They're recruiting me as a wide receiver which is totally fine with me," he said. "I really have no preference in regards to a position. Whatever works out best is fine with me."

Lenz isn't sure when he will make his final decision but he will definitely be heading to Ames in the near future. "I plan on going up with my parents next Saturday and I also will be up there in early September," he said. "I'll probably make my decision before or during the season."
