Meet Chasson Randle

Chasson is one of the fastest rising players in the Class of 2011 and earlier this summer the Rock Island (IL) High School point guard paid a visit to Ames with one of his closest friends.

"I came up for one of their camps with Tavian Pomlee (brother of Cyclone freshman L.A. Pomlee)," he said. "We used to play against each other in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade and we have become real good friends. I only got to see a little bit of the campus but I liked it a lot."

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound point guard currently has offers from Illinois, Iowa State, and Indiana. "I'm wide open at the moment," said Randle. "I'm really enjoying all three schools that are recruiting me. I love them all."

Chasson says he has already developed a solid relationship with Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson. "I really like Coach D-Rob. We are really close being that he's also from Rock Island," said Randle. "I've known him for about a year and he calls whenever he can to check up on me. I had heard a lot of good stuff about him over the years."

Chasson is just beginning his sophomore year at Rock Island High School but he already knows the criteria he is looking for in a school. "Academics is clearly the first thing I will be looking at," he said. "The second thing would have to be where I fit in the rotation."

Randle is not sure when he'll make a final decision on a school but he does plan to take many visits. "I don't want to make a decision until I know it's for sure and that I can stick with it," he said. "I was just at Indiana recently and I plan on likely visiting Illinois and Iowa State in September or October."
