ISU On Defense Against Kent State

Many players stepped up and made plays in last in last Thursday's victory over South Dakota State. Who will be the defensive stars when the Cyclones take on Kent State Saturday night?

The Cyclone Sports Report Three Keys To Look For On Saturday Night:

1)STOP THE RUN!!-The Cyclones inability to do so last season was the main reason why Kent State defeated them 23-14 in last year's season opener. Starting running back Eugene James rushed 25 times for 113 yards and starting quarterback Julian Edelman rushed 18 times for 75 yards as the Golden Flashes ran up 202 rushing yards as a team on the Cyclones. Their head coach, Doug Martin, has already stated that he is not happy with his team's pass blocking so if they can stop the run the Cyclones defense should be in good shape.

2)TACKLE, TACKLE, TACKLE......-Coach Chizik pointed out in his weekly press conference that the Cyclones probably allowed around 75 yards after missed tackles against South Dakota State. If the Cyclones expect to beat Kent State then that number must be reduced on Saturday night.

3)KEEP THE PICKS COMING-The Cyclones need to keep putting a lot of pressure on the quarterback because last week it helped lead them to five interceptions. If the Cyclones can win the turnover game again they should be in good shape against the Golden Flashes.
