CSR: Basketball Recruiting Exclusive

Cyclone Sports Report breaks down the players that the Iowa State staff has the most interest in at the moment.

Darius Smith, 6-3, PG, Marshall High School (Chicago, IL)-Darius is an outstanding point guard who is being heavily recruited by numerous schools. There is a chance he could be visiting in the next few weeks but nothing is set in stone yet.

Tony Freeland, 6-5, SF, Fremont High School (Los Angeles, CA)-Freeland was spotted by the Cyclone staff this summer and they will be paying him a visit in the next week.

Michael Haynes, 6-6, PF, Fenger High School (Chicago, IL)-Michael had to pass on an earlier visit because of an ankle injury. He is recovering and the staff is hoping he will be in town for the Kansas game but his visit may end up coming later.

Kevin Menner, 6-4, SG, Saddleback College(CA)-Kevin led Ventura College in scoring last year averaging 23.8 points per game. He has since transferred to Saddleback and will be getting a visit from the Iowa State staff next week.

LaRon Dendy, 6-9, PF, Indian Hills Community College (IA)-Dendy was once a Clemson commitment and is getting recruited by a lot of schools. Arkansas just offered him recently and Kentucky is involved.

Harrison Barnes, 6-6, SF, Ames High School (IA)-The entire staff went and watched him recently as the rise of Harrison Barnes continues. Numerous head coaches and assistants have been making their way to Ames to watch the star forward. I highly doubt that Harrison will make a decision until at least next summer.

Anthony Johnson, 6-3, SG, Whitney Young High School (Chicago, IL)-A highly rated guard that has a host of schools on his trail. The Cyclones got involved this summer with him and are still in the mix for his services.

Brandon Spearman, 6-4, SF, Simeon High School (Chicago, IL)-Brandon is an outstanding athlete who does a great job on the defensive end. He has camped with the Cylones and the staff hopes that he will make it out again for a visit in the next few months.

Phillip Jackson, 6-8, PF, Providence-St.Mel High School (Chicago, IL)-Jackson is a rising prospect who the staff just recently went to see and they came away very impressed.

Steven Adams, 6-7, PF, Pasadena High School (Pasadena, CA)-Underrated post player who really moved up the rankings this summer. The Cyclone staff might be paying him a visit on their west coast trip.

Kevin Panzer, 6-8, PF, Capistrano Valley High School (Mission Viejo, CA)-A sleeper recruit that the Cyclone staff will also be looking at in the next week.

Dre Henley, 6-5, SF, De La Salle High School (Chicago, IL)-Outstanding wing with a solid skill set for his age. The staff is very high on this lefty and will be watching him a lot this season.

Sam Thompson, 6-6, SF, Whitney Young High School (Chicago, IL)-May end up being a top ten player in his class. The Cyclones are among many that have come away highly impressed with the lanky sophomore.

Chasson Randle, 6-2, PG, Rock Island High School (Rock Island, IL)-His recruiting continues to blow up as he just recently heard from Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Florida.

Marcus Paige, 5-10, PG, Linn-Mar High School (Marion, IA)-The exceptional point guard was offered by the Cyclone staff this summer and they hope he will be coming up for a visit on October 18th for the Nebraska game.
