White Commits To Iowa State

Dallas (TX) Skyline running back James White got to meet with Iowa State Head Coach Gene Chizik one-on-one during his visit this past weekend. He liked what he heard so much that he chose to become a Cyclone late Monday afternoon.

"I just really felt comfortable with him and he told me that he needs a special guy to help turn things around at Iowa State," said White. "He told me that he really liked watching me on film and that he liked how I kept my pad levels low and how I finished my runs. He told me that they play the best guy and that I definitely could come in and compete for playing time next year."

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound running back runs a 4.41 forty and has led his high school team to a 4-1 record so far this season. This past Friday he only played one half in their 49-0 win over Marina High School yet ran for 108 yard on only five carries including touchdown runs of 40 and 37 yards.

James says that everything about his visit went well. "I just really liked it. Everbody there was excited and people were already asking me when I was going to commit," said White. "I like all the coaches and feel like I really have a good relationship with them."

James said he mostly hung out with host Bo Williams but also liked hanging with freshman quarterback Jerome Tiller. Something that Williams told him really stuck out to him. "Bo told me that the coaches are really going to show me a lot of love at Iowa State," he said. "But I thought the most important thing was that he told me that when Coach Chizik tells you something that he really means it and I really think that's important."
