Florida Linebacker Ready For Visit To Ames

Fort Walton Beach (FL) High School's Rashad Smith is set to visit Iowa State this weekend which is one of his two favorites at the moment.

"I'm pretty much looking at Iowa State and Ball State," he said. "I would say they both are pretty equal at the moment."

The 6-foot, 205-pound linebacker will also consider any scholarship offers that would come his way from the Florida schools. "My dad would still prefer that I stay close but I'm definitely okay with going away for school," said Smith.

Rashad has consistently stayed in touch with Iowa State defensive coordinator Wayne Bolt and feels that they have developed a solid relationship. "I haven't talk to any coaches in the last week or so but usually I talk to Coach Bolt about once a week," said Smith. "I really feel comfortable talking to him on the phone and I know that he's definitely a good person."

Rashad will be taking his visit with teammate Akeem Spence and he says that he would love to play with him again in college. "That would really be a solid deal because he's also a great friend who I hang out with a lot," said Smith.

Rashad has had a successful season to date helping Fort Walton Beach High School to a 6-0 record and a #3 ranking in the state of Florida.
