ISU On Offense Against Nebraska

Can the Iowa State offense get back on track after only scoring 10 points against a poor Baylor defense last week?

The Cyclone Sports Report Three Keys To Look For On Saturday Afternoon:

1)CONVERT ON THIRD DOWN-The Iowa State offense is dead last in the Big 12 on third down conversion percentage only coverting 28 of 85. If this doesn't change the Cyclones could be on their way to a fifth straight loss.

2)RUN GAME MUST STEP UP-Over the last four games, the Cyclones strength has clearly been its passing game. However, if they want to win long term and give their defense more rest during the game, they are going to have to start running the ball well on a consistent basis. Alexander Robinson has not had the type of year we expected and J.J. Bass has shown flashes but we clearly have not seen any of the running backs step up and take over the position. Certainly not all the blame goes on the running backs as the Iowa State offensive line must be more physical and do a better job of controlling the line in the run game. They have only allowed six sacks on the season but they have been poor when the Cyclones have tried to get their running game going.

3)SCORE EARLY-The Cyclones need to jump out on Nebraska and get momentum on their side. Last week at Baylor, they didn't make any big plays early and fell into a hole that they weren't able to get out of.
