Washington Happy To Be The Newest Cyclone

Owasso (OK) High School athlete Jacques Washington informed Cyclone Sports Report that he would likely commit to Iowa State on Monday. He was true to his word as he called the Cyclone staff late Monday night to give them the good news.

"I just got off the phone with Coach Raney to confirm to him that I wanted to commit to Iowa State," said Washington. "He told me he was really fired up and that Coach Chizik would be calling me tomorrow to talk with me."

Jacques was very happy to have his decision done and out of the way. "I'm completely done with it," he said. "Now I can just focus on my high school season."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback said it was a combination of things that pushed him to commit to Iowa State. "I just felt real comfortable with the players, the town, and the whole atmosphere," said Washington. "Playing in the Big 12 is a big deal and there' a lot of opportunity for me."

Jacques said that everyone in his family was just really excited for him. "Everybody's just really excited around here and they all agree with my decision. They're just real happy for me," said Washington.
