Ian also liked what he saw out of the Cyclone players. "The players were great to hang out with as we were all clowning each other," said Knight. "It was just like back home as they all hang out together."
Ian says that he really enjoys the Iowa State staff and that he had a lot of fun with the guy who eventually could be his position coach. "It was really helpful seeing how Coach Pelton treats his players," he said. "I just have a lot of respect for him because he cares about them as players but also as people. He really just treats them like family which is great."
Ian also liked talking to Iowa State Head Coach Gene Chizik. "We talked a lot and he pointed out that there is really a great opportunity here," he said. "He told me that he plans to build the program up not just for the next couple years but for a lifetime. He's a smart coach who has had a lot of success and there's a reason for it. I'd be in great hands at Iowa State."
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end says that he has narrowed his final decision down to three schools. "I'm down to Iowa State, Illinois, and Colorado State," he said. "I go to Colorado State next week and then I will be taking my final visit to Illinois on November 15th."
Knight will be graduating early in December so he says his decision should not be too far away. "I'll most likely make my decision in November after my final visit," he said. "I'm going to be a spring recruit so the latest I would wait would be early December."
