ISU Football Lands Commitment #17

The state of Texas continues to be fertile recruiting soil for Dan McCarney's program. The first big weekend of official visitors has yielded at least one commitment already, and that's some much-needed defensive line depth out of the Lone Star State.

Cyclone Nation.com has learned that Dan McCarney and the Iowa State football program have gotten their 17th known verbal commitment for the class of 2003, which signs in February.

Yet another Texan has said yes to the Cyclones. This time it's Brent Curvey, a 6-foot 2 inch, 270-pound defensive lineman from Spring (Texas) Westfield High School. Curvey was one of at least 13 prospects that visited Ames this weekend and is a former prep teammate of starting linebacker Brandon Brown.

Curvey was also recruited by Houston and Syracuse, among others.  Curvey visited ISU with current teammate Corey Campbell, one of the top safety prospects in the country.

We'll have more on Iowa State's latest commitment soon. Until then, please respect the exclusive reporting done here at CN by discussing this online only on our message boards.
