Gilstrap Excited About Signing Day

Cyclone Sports Report caught up with the only player who will be signing with Iowa State tomorrow on basketball's National Signing Day. Marquis Gilstrap is ready to officially become a Cyclone.

"I'm ready to sign tomorrow and have it over. My coach told me today that he will be faxing it tomorrow for me," said Gilstrap. "Nothing has changed about how I feel about Iowa State since I committed in August."

The 6-foot-7, 202-pound forward added that he does feel even more comfortable after taking his official visit this fall. "It made things a lot easier because now I know what to expect," said Gilstrap. "I still talk with the Iowa State coaches all the time. I just talked with Coach McDermott last weekend after my game."

Marquis has already helped Gulf Coast Community College to a 3-1 record as their leading scorer averaging 21.7 per game. After missing two years due to injury, Gilstrap says that he's just happy to be back out on the court playing basketball again. "It feels better than before I was injured," he said. "I just want to keep on playing healthy and have a great season so I can help Gulf Coast have a winning season this year."
