Del Ray Beach Atlantic LB Commits

ISU head coach Dan McCarney got some exciting news this morning when a standout prep linebacker from Florida committed for the Class of 2003.

Del Ray Beach Atlantic linebacker Steve Allen gave ISU his word earlier in the day before departing from his official visit to Ames. Allen is the 18th commitment that will sign next February. We also may be hearing some encouraging news in the near future from Allen's teammate Brandon Owens. Stay tuned for the story here shortly.

The Cyclones are getting a potential SAM or WILL linebacker with great speed and playmaking ability. Allen played left outside linebacker for one of the top defenses in Palm County, which didn't allow an opponent over 100 yards rushing.

Allen had made more than 50 tackles to go along with seven sacks and two interceptions through Atlantic's first seven games. Allen's teammate is big-time safety prospect Brandon Owens, the number one national player at his position by The Insiders, who will visit ISU this weekend as well.

Allen said he will be canceling visits to Toledo and Kansas State.
