First all the speculation was about Buffalo's Turner Gill but he put that to an end by signing a contract extension. Now all speculation is heading towards Arizona's Mike Stoops. What did he have to say when asked if Iowa State had contacted him about their head coaching vacancy?
"No, I don't have any comment," he said while addressing the Arizona media and when given another opportunity a second later to completely shoot down the rumor he responded. "I have no comment. I'm getting ready to play a game here."
Coach Stoops currently has a 24-34 overall record in his fifth season at Arizona. He will be leading the Wildcats to their first bowl game in ten years when they take on BYU this Saturday night in the Las Vegas Bowl. His contract with the Wildcats currently runs through 2010.
The 47-year old Stoops is a native of Youngstown, Ohio but he played his college football at the University of Iowa from 1981-1984.
