Will Reeves Follow Chizik To Auburn?

It's been kind of a crazy few weeks for Allen (TX) High School's Jeremy Reeves. He first found out that the coach that he had committed to play college football for was leaving for Auburn and then a week later he helped lead his team to the Texas 5-A State Championship.

"It's been wild and I guess they are planning a parade or something when we get back from break," said Reeves. "It was a great win because they (Houston Hightower High School) were really good. We only won 21-14 but it was really exciting."

Now that Jeremy has finished his high school football career, the 5-foot-7, 150-pound cornerback will have to choose a place to play his college football and that is somewhat up in the air right now. "I'm going to stay committed to Iowa State until I talk to the new coaches but the main reason I was going to Iowa State was because of Coach Chizik," said Reeves. "I'll meet Coach Rhoads and see how they plan on using their corners. I haven't made any final decision yet so they still have a chance."

Is there a chance that Reeves could follow Coach Chizik to Auburn? "When the Auburn job opened up I even joked with a friend that he had been there but that I didn't think he would leave to go there," he said. "I talked with Coach Koonz who is the cornerbacks coach and he said he might be going with him to Auburn. He told me that there might be an offer coming from Auburn and if that happens I might follow them there. I just would love to play for Coach Chizik with all the defensive backs that he has put in the NFL."

Reeves has also heard from some other schools since Coach Chizik decided to leave. "I have talked with SMU and Colorado so far," he said. "I'm just going to wait to talk with the new Iowa State coaches and then I'm going to talk with my high school coaches after break about what steps I should take."
