Lichtenberg Meets With New Cyclone Coaches

Cyclone Sports Report caught up with Bettendorf (IA) High School's Kyle Lichtenberg who is in Ames on an unofficial visit to meet with the new Iowa State coaches for the first time.

"I just had a really nice meeting with Coach Rhoads and my parents were just as impressed as I was," said Lichtenberg. "He's really nice and has a great vision for the program. He pretty much just introduced me into the new staff's style and philosophy."

The 6-foot-6, 250-pound offensive tackle also enjoyed talking with new Cyclone assistant coach, Bill Bleil, who will along with Coach Scott Fountain will be working with the offensive line. "He's just a sound technician and it was really nice talking with him also," said Lichtenberg. "It seems that he will really push the teaching aspect of the game and I'm really looking forward to it."

Kyle clearly realizes how important a solid relationship is needed to have with Coach Bleil. "I had already talked with him on the phone and it went real well," said Lichtenberg. "He's a native Iowan and the guy that I'm likely going to be working with for the next five years."

Kyle feels it will be five years because he will almost for sure be redshirting his freshman season. "I have always assumed that I would my freshman year," he said. "It will allow a year for my body to develop and to also learn the offense."

Kyle is a solid commitment to Iowa State but has not yet fully ended his recruitment. "I've talked a little bit with Iowa and Illinois since Coach Chizik left but I'm still fully committed to Iowa State," he said. "They told me today that they are going to visit me again at home in the near future and then I'll likely make my final decision soon after that."
