Lawrence Talks Home Visit With Coach Rhoads

Cyclone Sports Report caught up with Rockwall Heath (TX) running back Kendial Lawrence to get his take on meeting Iowa State's new head coach Paul Rhoads.

"Coach Rhoads came to see me on Monday and it went real well," said Lawrence. "He told me that they were definitely honoring my scholarship offer and that they really liked me."

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound running back said that Coach Rhoads laid everything out for him. "He was very honest and upfront about everything," said Lawrence. "He explained everything well about how he wanted to run things at Iowa State."

The new coach also explained how they would use Lawrence if he were to choose the Cyclones. "He said that he felt that I had great speed and change of direction ability," he said. "They want to spread me out and use me in space to use my speed."

Kendial says that the visit with Coach Rhoads has definitely kept the Cyclones in the running for his services. "I'm definitely still considering Iowa State," said Lawrence. "I would say that right now the five that I'm considering the most are Iowa State, Missouri, Auburn, Louisville, and SMU."

Kendial is trying to recover from a fractured clavicle that knocked him out of the state playoffs and is not yet sure when he will make his final decision. "My injury is getting better and I just started rehabbing," said Lawrence. "I'd like to make my choice hopefully sometime soon but I'm just not sure yet when I will make it."
