The 6-foot, 180-pound athlete just recently met with Iowa State's new head coach Paul Rhoads for the first time. "Coach Rhoads came by my school last Wednesday and we had a good talk," said Lang. "He asked me what I wanted to play and I said wide receiver (he also plays defensive back). He said that's good because they are looking to get another wide receiver. He watched my film and he told me that he liked that I was a good downfield blocker and that he thought I had good hands and good speed."
Lang, like another Cyclone recruiting target Michael Marry, was a former teammate of Cyclone star freshman Leonard Johnson. "Leonard and I are real close as we grew up playing little league football together since were eight years old," he said. "Michael (Marry) and I have talked about going to the same school at the next level."
Mike has also got to talk to Leonard about his experience at Iowa State. "He told me that it's a good place to go and that he really likes the environment," he said. "He told me that there's good people there and that the coaches will take care of you. He also said that it's a good school for education."
Lang visited South Florida this past weekend and already has offers from Cincinnati, USF, Utah, Missouri, UAB, FAU, and Colorado State. His busy month will continue with another visit this upcoming weekend. "I'll be going to Connecticut this weekend for a visit and then likely to Iowa State on the 23rd if I get an offer," he said. "I'm trying to reschedule a visit to Cincinnati and I also have a visit scheduled at Florida Atlantic on the 30th."
Mike is not sure when he will make his decision but he definitely doesn't want to wait all the way until signing day. "Honestly, I want to make the decision as soon as possible," said Lang.
