Cyclones Land Commitment From JC Safety

After enjoying his weekend visit to Iowa State, Butte Community College safety David Sims ended his recruitment by committing to the Cyclones.

"I just really enjoyed everything and so I committed," said Sims. "They're sending me the papers today for me to sign and the plan is for me to get there this week."

David originally was to go to Oklahoma but due to an academic issue he ended up sitting out this past season. "I was all ready to go to Oklahoma last summer and then they told me that I had to take another class and that the transcript wasn't going to get to Oklahoma in time for me to play," said Sims. "Then in November they said I can't come there to play."

So with his recruitment back open David turned to Iowa State after getting a call from Cyclone assistant coach Chris Ash. "Last week Coach Ash called me and I had already known him because he recruited me when he was at San Diego State," said Sims. "He's real cool and also a lot of people at Butte said that he's a real good coach."

Sims also enjoyed talking with Cyclone head coach Paul Rhoads during his visit. "I like the way he's taking charge of the program," he said. "He seems to be making the right changes and he told me he felt I could come in and make a difference."

David also really enjoyed getting to know some of his future teammates during his visit. "I got to hang out with Austen (Arnaud) and James Smith who was my host," said Sims. "We're real cool now. I really liked hanging out with them."
