Iowa State Offers Raulston

Due to the fact that Iowa State has only two quarterbacks on scholarship they are looking to add at least one more to their 2009 recruiting class. On Thursday night, All Saint's Episcopal (TX) High School's Doak Raulston became the new staff's number one target when he was offered a scholarship.

"Coach Herman called me last night and said that they were offering me a full scholarship," he said. "He said that he wanted me to come and play at Iowa State. He told me that I was their number one guy on their board."

So will Raulston, who is verbally committed to Louisiana Tech, take an official visit to Iowa State? "I'm definitely considering it. I don't think it would hurt to go see what it's like," he said. "The fact that they only have two quarterbacks on scholarship is definitely a plus. I'm going to have to talk with my parents about it and then I'll decide whether to visit. The Iowa State coaches are hoping I'll come up next weekend (January 23rd) for an official visit."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback is not just excited about Iowa State having only two quarterbacks. "The chance to play for Coach Herman is definitely a major factor because he really does a great job of developing quarterbacks," said Raulston. "I got to know him when he started recruiting me to Rice last summer. I got to sit in on a quarterbacks meeting and you could just tell how much he connects with his players. They really like and respect him and his offenses have been prolific and I think that he'll probably do the same at Iowa State."
