Florida Safety Picks Iowa State

Iowa State Head Coach Paul Rhoads was even shocked for a second by the Cyclones latest commitment.

Osceola (FL) High School's Jansen Watson has developed a very solid relationship Paul Rhoads over the past two years. On Saturday night, he decided to end his recruitment by committing to the new Iowa State head coach.

"Coach Rhoads and I had a conversation to discuss some things and then I told him that I wanted to commit," said Watson. "He was shocked at first but then he wasn't because he knows we have a great relationship."

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound free safety says that getting to know the Iowa State head coach over the past two years was definitely the key to his commitment. "I've known him since I was junior and as soon as he left Auburn and came to Iowa State he called me and gave me an offer right away," said Watson. "He's just honest and loyal and I'm real excited to play for him. He also came down to see me at home and my mom also really likes him."

Jansen also really enjoyed getting to see the Iowa State basketball game earlier today. "It was a great experience just to see how the fans are at Iowa State," he said. "It was amazing to see how much support they show their team."

Before committing to Iowa State, Jansen had offers from Cincinnati, Auburn, Colorado State, UCF, and Kansas State.
