Future Cyclone Excited For Signing Day

Dubuque Hempstead (IA) High School's Josh Lenz is ready to become an Iowa State Cyclone and last weekend he got to feel like he already was one.

"I didn't know what to expect but all the guys were really nice and treated me like I was already part of the team," said Lenz. "I'm just ready to sign next week and then finish off my senior year and then get ready to start lifting and hanging out with the guys up at Iowa State this summer."

Josh was also excited when he found out who his likely roommates would be next fall. "One of the coaches told me that I'd probably be rooming with Jake Knott, Kyle Lichtenberg, and A.J. Klein so I was real happy about that," said Lenz. "A.J. wasn't able to make it up but I got to hang out with Kyle and Jake most of the weekend and they were a lot of fun to hang out with."

Josh also knows what role he will play in new offensive coordinator Tom Herman's scheme for Iowa State. "Right now he feels I fit well at the slot receiver," he said. "Coach Herman is a real nice guy who had some fun with my little brother when I was talking with him. He's real easy to get along with."

The 6-foot, 180 wide receiver also liked getting to know his future head coach even better during his visit. "I got to talk with Coach Rhoads a few times and we mainly went over what's going on this summer," said Lenz. "I just really like that he knows the area so well and that he is so loyal to that state of Iowa. He's real down to earth and just tells it like it is."
